"On 27.02.2018 at 21:38 my beloved Grandmother passed away... my best friend, my muse.
She was the most magical person in my life.
I owe her so very much.
She gave me the most beautiful childhood,
better than I could have ever imagined.
She taught me to love—so unconditionally...
She showed me the world in its most beautiful colors.
She was warmth and a gentle touch.
I would drown in her eyes—the same ones as mine.I believe that someone we loved very much is with us as long as we remember them, as long as we have them in our hearts. With the photographic series 21:38, I wanted to commemorate a person dear to me, to show that the memory of her will not perish.
I treated the creative process as a form of therapy for myself and for my loved ones.
I also thought about people I don't know, because every one of us has experienced such a loss at some point.
I see the exhibition opening as a kind of farewell.
I wanted to show that one should not bottle up emotions; you have to let them flow out.
The photos included in the series are very symbolic; they show places connected with my Grandmother—her apartment, her room, the hospital where she spent the last moments of her life.
The form of the photos itself is also a kind of symbol; it is meant to suggest that what we are looking at is not real.
The blurs show my glassy gaze through eyelashes and tears, looking at the emptiness she left behind..." - the author writes about the exhibition.
