Composition

In the Composition Studio, SAPU students learn to build an image from the ground up—working with color, contrast, light and form. This is where they create pencil drawings, painterly sketches and compositional studies that develop aesthetic sensitivity.

Composition classes allow students to understand how visual elements influence the reception of a design. They teach conscious framing, balance, and rhythm in an image, which later translates into the ability to create cohesive fashion collections, graphics or textile designs. It’s an exercise for the eye that forms the foundation for further design work.

The Composition Studio is a space for experiment and observation. Here, students develop their own style while simultaneously learning the analysis of form and a sense of proportion. It’s also an opportunity for quiet reflection and concentration — important values in the creative process.
