No Waste Show 2017
As part of this year’s edition of Cracow Fashion Week and its theme “Fashion and Ecology,” a new sustainable collection titled NO WASTE was created, premiering on March 25 at Studio Zabłocie.
The runway featured designs by first- and second-year students of SAPU, as well as guest collections by Zuzanna Hrubošová and Paulina Bubík Szotkowska – the winner of the Polish Talent Support competition.
“This is a completely new level of quality. I’m amazed at how much their creativity has evolved despite the rather narrow framework of the assignment. Many students used original, experimental sewing techniques. We want young designers to be aware of the realities of the fashion industry and to understand the difference they can make within it,” says Pat Guzik.
Old sweaters and yarn, duvets and blankets, a parachute, or plush – these are just a few of the materials SAPU students used to create the NO WASTE collection. The task was exceptionally demanding: designers could work only with reclaimed materials, while simultaneously eliminating scraps and waste in the production process. In doing so, they gave “trash” a new life, revealing the noble face of responsible fashion.

Event details
The No Waste Show is a unique fashion event organized by SAPU that promotes the idea of sustainable design and a responsible approach to clothing.
The collections presented are the result of the “No Waste” classes—an original curriculum where students learn to create fashion with respect for the environment, utilizing reclaimed materials, fabric remnants, and unconventional raw resources.
It stands as a creative answer to overproduction in the apparel industry and demonstrates that material constraints can serve as a catalyst for developing bold, innovative designs.
