Fashion Laboratory 2016
On Saturday, June 11, Kraków hosted a grand showcase of fashion creativity. During the SAPU Fashion Laboratory at Forum Przestrzenie, numerous unconventional designs were presented. Collections were shown by Dominika Syczyńska, a SAPU alumna and winner of the Fashion Designer Awards, first- and second-year SAPU students, and designers from Melnica Mody in Minsk.
First- and second-year SAPU students were given demanding creative tasks: first-year students had to create garments from raw cotton, whose simple form allowed for broad interpretation. Second-year students were tasked with designing clothing inspired by contemporary art, following the principle that “contemporary art does not confine itself to uniform formulas. It is not only architecture, painting, sculpture… but also digital graphics, photography, film, collage, installations, happenings, street art, abstraction.”
The Fashion Laboratory 2016 show took place at Forum Przestrzenie. The special guest of the event was Michał Zaczyński, a renowned fashion critic and author of the blog michalzaczynski.com. The show also featured an artistic dance performance by students of the School of Choreography.
Approximately 1,000 guests attended Fashion Laboratory 2016.
