Habitus Baltija 2011

See all shows

In the 11th edition of the international competition for young fashion designers, Habitus Baltija 2011, SAPU graduates once again achieved significant success. Designers from 9 higher education institutions in clothing design from seven countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, Turkey, and Belarus, presented a total of 49 collections.

Three contestants from SAPU returned from Riga with valuable awards. The most important prize was awarded to Agnieszka Kowalska. Her diploma collection, “Szałapot,” won the highest number of points in the Artistic Avant-garde category according to the jury’s vote. The laureate received the Habitus Baltija statuette and a one-year scholarship at the GED Fashion Institute in Milan, valued at 12,000 Euro. This made Agnieszka Kowalska the Grand Prix winner of the entire competition.

Another SAPU graduate from that year, Karolina Gronicka, received the award for the best collection in the Industrial Prêt-à-porter category. The collection of the third Polish participant, “Modus vivendi” by Monika Jaworska, was honored with an Officiel distinction in the Artistic Prêt-à-porter category.

The SAPU team, along with the school’s director, Jerzy Gaweł, who served on the competition jury, had the opportunity to visit Riga, the seaside town of Jurmala, and Vilnius.
